There will be an overview of the regulatory guidelines, Good Laboratory Practice, frequently used rodent strains, sources for rodent histology data, the organ trimming guide, and the internationally harmonized nomenclature for rodents. Following the introduction, there will be an interactive virtual microscopic slide session with a demonstration and discussion of the normal structures of rodent specific organs.

The seminar engrosses the insight into the background pathology of aging laboratory rodents. There will be an introduction to the most common pathological findings in laboratory rodents with special emphasis to the organ system. Following the introduction, there will be an interactive virtual microscopic slide session with a demonstration and discussion of a variety of histopathological slide scans with common pathological findings in rats and mice.

Participants are introduced into techniques of basic and advanced spermatology such as computer-assisted semen analysis and flow cytometry. Possibilities and limitations for the prognosis of male fertility will be discussed.
