The state of the art and literature seminar of the Hildebrandt group at the Institute of Clinical Biochemistry addresses current practical and theoretical aspects in cellular and molecular neuroscience, with a focus set on enzymes that generate neuron- and glia-specific glycotopes involved in cell-cell communication in the nervous system.

The seminar provides an overview to the basic background of non-coding RNAs (microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs etc) in human genome, their biogenesis, classification, functions and their role in human cerebral diseases such as cerebrovascular disorders and tumors.
Additionally, the recent published work as well as ongoing research work from our lab will be presented and discussed.
Following the seminar, there will an interactive question and answer session and the participanting students will have the opportunity for lab visit to get to know the state of the art molecular techniques being utilized for this study.In addition,depending on the availability, students will have the possibility to visit and experience a live brain surgery at the campus.
