Veterinary medicine

Studying at the Foundation of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover is very much in demand. Around 250 places are available each year for first-year students and each year far more prospective students apply than there are places available. Including doctoral students, PhD students and students in the MSc programme 'Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences', over 2,400 students are enrolled at the TiHo. In addition, there are the Bachelor's students of Biology, who are trained in cooperation with Leibniz Universität Hannover and Hannover Medical School.

The Graduate School of the University of Veterinary Medicine was founded in April 2003 for the further scientific qualification of graduates in veterinary medicine and natural sciences. Since 2011, there have been three PhD programmes under its roof. The PhD programme Veterinary Research and Animal Biology was founded in 1998 - as the first PhD programme in Germany.
