Procedure for external applicants
The habilitation serves as proof of an outstanding qualification for independent scientific research and qualified independent teaching. Through the habilitation, the venia legendi is acquired for a specific scientific field, which is represented at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover and significantly contributes to the study and teaching in veterinary medicine or the biological courses of study, and the legal status of a private lecturer at this university is established.
The application for habilitation is submitted in writing to the President of the TiHo. For applicants who are not working at the TiHo, a mentorate will take place before the application is submitted, usually in one year. For this purpose, the applicant from outside the university must contact the permanent members of the habilitation committee in writing for the purpose of setting up the mentorate.
The further procedure can be found in the habilitation regulations.
