How does the submission to TiHo-eLib work?

To submit your publication digitally, please log in to TiHo-eLib . The login button is located in the top right corner of the page. You can login via Shibboleth using your usual IDM code. After registering, you can start entering the accompanying data via the field Submit document and Enter university thesis.
You will then upload the dissertation (PDF).

If your publication has not been released by a publisher or a series and does not have a DOI for other reasons, you can simply click on continue in the next step. Please fill in at least the mandatory fields marked with an asterisk in the next form and click on continue again. In a final step, you can upload your work as a PDF document.

We will then be notified automatically and will endeavour to approve your work as quickly as possible or consult with you if necessary. By submitting your work, you also agree to the terms of use and our guidelines!

What technical requirements must the PDF document meet?

When creating the PDF file, you should note the following:

  • recommended: specification of title, author and keywords in the document properties (WORD).
    Input in: Tab "Properties" -> right field "Properties/Extended properties".
  • no document restrictions (no password protection)
  • Use bookmarks and headings with the use of a style sheet
    (Export bookmarks when creating the PDF)
  • Set up document to the correct page format (WORD)
    Check in: Tab "Layout" ->Format = A4
    (will be printed in A5 by the book printer if required)
  • Create PDF/A document (select PDF/A setting in the print properties) barrier-free document
  • Naming the file: exact instructions can be found in the section "How should I name my PDF file?
  • Do not use digital signatures (data protection)
  • Resolution of graphics and images at least 300 dpi
  • For cumulative work: do not include manuscripts or papers as image formats, photo files, etc.


The Matrix42 programme PDFsam Basic is helpful for splitting and merging PDFs.

What do I have to do if I am not a member of the TiHo?

If you are not or no longer affiliated with the University of Veterinary Medicine, we can give you guest access or you can submit the PDF file of your university publication via university staff.

Do I need an ORCID for the submission?

An ORCID is not mandatory,
but if you want to continue publishing scientifically, it would be very helpful.

You can apply for an ORCID yourself free of charge.

What do I have to keep in mind when writing a abstract (English) / summary (German)?

Please note the requirements for uploading the Summary (German) / Abstract (English) to the repository:

  • coherent text (no paragraphs / line breaks)
  • no chemical formulae (and if only shown as a formula in Word (e.g.: H2O))
  • no pictures, tables, enumerations, chemical / graphical representations

These summaries do not have to match the summaries in the PDF document.

How should I name my PDF file?

Please save your PDF file under last name, first letter of first name, hyphen, current semester and year of graduation ceremony.

Example:
Müstermann, Max; Winter semester; Ceremonial promotion on 27.11.2020.

Which CC licence is right for me?

Do I need a DOI?

If your publication has not been published by a publisher or in a series and does not have a DOI for other reasons, you can simply click on continue in the next step of the submission process.

Please do not include the DOIs of your published articles at this point.
