Funding requirements
- For publications related to third-party-funded projects, the project-related budget for publishing must be preferentially used.
- The article must be published in a Gold-Open-Access-Journal with a Peer-Review-process. Articles which are published in Hybrid-Open-Access-journals can not be funded by the publication fund.
- The journal must be listed either in DOAJ, PubMed, Web of Science or CABI Digital Library.
- Articles in so-called „Mirror Journals“ are not funded.
- Articles must be published under a Creative-Commons-License (idealy "CC BY").
- A „Digital Object Identifier“ (DOI) is assigned to the article.
- Only active members of the TiHo can apply for funding.
- Only corresponding author can apply for funding.
- Authors must follow the publication guidelines of the TiHo.
- The invoice must be issued to the responsibe corresponding author.
- The article must include the following funding acknowledgement: We acknowledge financial support by the Open Access Publication Fund of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation.
Funding
Main funding scheme
For applicants who can not apply for any of the other funding schemes (see below).
- APC up to 2.000 € (incl. tax): 80% funding by the fund, 20% payment by the author.
- APC above 2.000 € (incl. tax): 1.600 € funding by the fund (the remaining part must be paid by the author).
Funding scheme A
For PhDs (without habilitation) who apply for the first time for funding.
- APC up to 2.000 € (incl. tax): Full funding by the fund.
- APC above 2.000 € (incl. tax): 2.000 € funding by the fund (the remaining part must be paid by the author).Application form
Funding scheme B
For PhDs within an ongoing habilitation process who have arleary applied for external funding (e.g. DFG, MWK, BMBF). Application for funding must be proved in advance of applying for funding under this scheme.

Application process
All requirements for funding must be fullfilled. Please apply for funding as soon as possible. Please send your application form to open.access@tiho-hannover.de. The usage of a permanent author identificator like the „Open Researcher and Contributor iD“ (ORCID) is highly recommended.
