General information about our e-book portfolio

For a comprehensive digital selection of veterinary literature, we have licensed selected e-books on various platforms: These can be searched either directly via the search entry points listed below or via our discovery system VetSearch.

Online access is provided by default via IP authentication from the campus network. Members of our facility also have access via the WLAN eduroam or via VPN (Virtual Private Network) from their own end devices.  Depending on the provider platform, external access to licensed content requires a log-in via ezProxy or Shibboleth as shown in the following overview.

Registration on the individual platforms is usually only necessary if you wish to use personalized services (e.g., annotations, reading lists).

Thieme VetCenter

The VetCenter provides access to more than 200 e‑books, including numerous textbooks covering various topics related to veterinary medicine. In addition, a range of illustrations, diagnostic guides, patient information sheets, and a training center are available. The service is particularly relevant for students.

If you would like to use the VetCenter from home, access is possible via EZproxy, Shibboleth, or through a personal user account (“VetCenter Home Access”). For home access via a personal account, a one‑time registration within the campus network using your TiHo email address is required; institutional affiliation is automatically recognized during this process. After registration, you have unrestricted access to all licensed content. Additional functions such as creating notes and highlights are also available. CABI Digital Library

CABI supports study, practice and research with quality-tested scientific content and services in a wide range of disciplines, including agriculture, forestry and food, environmental and nature sciences, plant sciences, tourism and leisure, veterinary and animal sciences and One Health.

Various modules are licensed from the portfolio, including curated case study collections from the Animal Behaviour and Welfare and One Health segments, the Animal Health & Production compendium with images, maps and diagnostic and decision-making guides, as well as the Animal & Veterinary Science e-book package with over 200 available titles.
