In the bird department, we take care of all feathered patients – whether parrots, birds of prey, or hobby poultry, all patients in feathers are welcome here. For animals used for food production, especially chickens whose eggs or meat are commercially used, please contact the Poultry Clinic at the Veterinary University. During our consultation hours, we offer preventive examinations, advice on housing and feeding, as well as advanced diagnostics such as X-rays, ultrasound, and laboratory diagnostics. For sick birds requiring intensive therapy, the clinic has specially equipped inpatient rooms where the animals can be accommodated according tot their needs and monitored and cared for around the clock. Surgical procedures, such as fracture care, wound care, or removal of growths, are usually performed in a special operating room with well-controlled inhalation anesthesia during a short inpatient stay. In addition to clinical work with our feathered patients, another focus is on educating students who learn the basics of avian medicine during lectures in the semester or an internship at our clinic. We also try tot constantly develop knowledge about diseases and treatment options in birds through research projects.
