Dear colleagues,

the Department of Small Mammal, Reptile and Avian Medicine and Surgery not only focuses on teaching and research, but also plays a crucial role in caring for acutely or chronically ill patients, as well as emergency cases. We are available around the clock, particularly as a referral clinic. To make the process as smooth as possible for you, the pet owner, and the patient, we kindly request a written or verbal referral. Sending us any previously conducted diagnostic test results from the lab or imaging, along with information on prior treatment, allows us to prepare specifically for the patient and often saves the pet owner from redundant tests. Rest assured, as the referring veterinarian, you will receive written feedback after the treatment of the animal at our facility. Please provide us with your practice's email address or pass it on to the pet owner.

You are welcome to use our pre-made referral form.

To minimize wait times, we ask pet owners to call for an appointment (Tel.: 0511-953 6800). We kindly request that referring veterinarians refrain from scheduling appointments for pet owners, as this often leads to misunderstandings in our experience. Emergency cases are always accepted.

Additionally, we offer telephone consultation hours for both you and the pet owners.
