The main focus of research is on practical and basic research questions in the fields of reproductive medicine and biotechnology, especially in the fields of artificial insemination and embryo and embryo transfer.

The Unit for Reproductive Medicine represents teaching across species and species in the specific in the field of reproductive medicine and biotechnology in the undergraduate and postgraduate studies of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. She is involved in the education of the MSc Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences as well as of veterinary technical assistants. It provides continuing education for veterinarians and professionals involved in insemination.

The Unit for Reproductive Medicine is a recognized training center of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR) for the species bovine and small ruminants, horse, pig, dog and cat, as well as for the specialty of biotechnology. The residency program enables the further education to become an ECAR Diplomate.
