The main research focus lays on practical and basic aspects in the fields of reproductive medicine and biotechnology, especially artificial insemination and embryo transfer.

The Unit for Reproductive Medicine represents teaching activities across species and species-specific in the field of reproductive medicine and biotechnology in the undergraduate and postgraduate studies of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. Teaching includes the education in the MSc program Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences as well as of veterinary technical assistants. In addition, continuous education for veterinarians and professionals involved in artificial insemination is offered.

The Unit for Reproductive Medicine is a recognized training center of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR) for the species bovine and small ruminants, horse, pig, dog and cat, as well as for the subspeciality biotechnology. The residency program prepares veterinarians to qualify as ECAR Diplomate.
