Where can I find textbooks?

The textbook collection is freely accessible in the reading room on the first floor. You can search for all (text)books using our library catalogue. If " Lehrbuchsammlung Obergeschoss" (Textbook Collection Upper Floor) is displayed as the location, the books are available in that collection.

As an additional research aid, a list of selected textbooks and specialist literature is available:

Literature Overview for Veterinary Medicine Studies (german)

Can I borrow these books?

All textbooks are available in multiple copies. Most of the them can be borrowed. All copies of the textbook collection marked in yellow are loan copies that you can borrow for 28 days. One copy of the latest edition of each title is marked red as a non-lending reference copy.

You can find more information on this topic under the Borrowing and Ordering tab.

How is the textbook collection organised?

The titles are arranged by subject. Each title is given a shelfmark consisting of letters for the subject area (e.g. Ga for Immunology) and a number. For newer editions of the same title, the next higher number is assigned.

Example:

Tizard: Veterinary immunology
Ga 35 - 11th edition of 2025
Ga 34 - 10th edition of 2018
Ga 33 - 9th edition of 2013
