The University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover has set up an internal pool of funds of € 153,400 p.a. which can be used to financially support measures to achieve equality in accordance with § 3 para. 3 NHG.

For example:

Promotion of the qualification of women:

  •     Further and continuing education
  •     Promotion of habilitation (Ursula Weigt Programme)
  •     Contact trips for female academics with doctorates
  •     Individual coaching for women scientists with doctorates
  •     Further training measures for female veterinarians with doctorates

Measures to reconcile study/work and family life

  •     Travel allowance for scientists with family responsibilities
  •     Subsidies for holiday childcare for school-age children up to 12 years of age
  •     Support for familiarisation before or after a leave of absence, e.g. through further training courses or payment of a substitute during the familiarisation phase.
  •     Familiarisation posts to support after returning from parental leave or leave for family reasons.

The Commission for Equality decides independently on the allocation of funds in accordance with the Gender Equality Plan.

Funding is only available to members of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover Foundation.
Applications must be submitted to the Commission for Equality 2-3 months before the funds are to be used.
