Allgemeiner Studierenden Ausschuss (AStA)

The team

What is the AStA?

The General Students’ Committee is the executive body of the student body and supports it by providing advice, assistance and useful services.

The AStA addresses students’ needs through its various departments and their respective officers, each of whom is assigned to key areas of responsibility.

The AStA meets once a week during the lecture term, usually on Thursdays from 6.30 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to set the direction for the AStA’s work and to report on its activities. It is the AStA’s role to act in the interests of the student body at the Hannover University of Veterinary Medicine Foundation. This includes involvement in university policy, administrative tasks and advisory services, as well as running a shop selling lecture notes and accessories, and much more besides.

Alongside the departments, the independently organised Doctoral Students’ Representative Body (ProV) forms part of the AStA. Doctoral students enrolled at the university are actively involved in this body.

Any student with an interest in the AStA and its work is welcome to attend meetings as a guest. Anyone keen to get involved in one of the departments is always in good hands with the department heads, who are happy to answer any questions. Anyone who is a student at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover can get involved, regardless of which semester they are in.

If you’re interested in the work of the AStA, simply get in touch with us, pop along to our meeting at the AStA on Thursdays at 6.30 pm, or send us an email.
We look forward to seeing YOU!
