TiHo receives TOTAL E-QUALITY award for the fifth time

The TiHo is committed to equal professional opportunities for women and men. For this commitment, the university received the TOTAL E-QUALITY award for three years in 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and again in 2023. With this fifth award in a row, the TiHo also received the Sustainability Award this year. The jury's statement includes the following:

"It is very pleasing that this gender ratio in the scientific field remains until the doctorate. In the last three years, the proportion of women in management positions in science and administration has also increased. The proportion of female professors is now approaching the 50 per cent mark. The gender equality measures are focussed on continuing this trend."

"Gender equality work is being continuously expanded in the direction of a comprehensive understanding of equal opportunities and more and more diversity dimensions are being addressed. Internationality and accessibility will be the focus of our work in the coming years."

"Being honoured five times is lasting proof of our strong commitment. As an example of best practice, the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover contributes to the positive development of equal opportunities and diversity in our society."

TOTAL E-QUALITY Deutschland e. V. was founded in 1996. The initial focus on establishing gender equality in organisations has expanded to include other diverse perspectives.
Together with companies, universities, research organisations and associations, the association now stands for the creation of a work culture that enables talented people from all backgrounds to enter and advance. Particular attention is paid to linking gender-specific aspects with a wide range of personal and social characteristics. Such an intersectional approach aims to reduce the influence of (gender) stereotypes and to develop non-discriminatory, inclusive organisational structures.

Every year, the association awards the TOTAL E-QUALITY award for exemplary action in terms of an organisational culture geared towards equal opportunities. It certifies a successful and sustainable commitment to equal opportunities and signifies the participating organisations' clear commitment to gender equality and diversity.
