Registration and transport of your animals

Registration

Please always contact us by telephone before you bring an animal to us. This enables us to prepare for your case and clarify any epidemiological issues in advance.

Please have your cattle passport ready for registration and bring it with you.

It is not necessary to deregister the animal from your herd, as the clinic has a special licence for cattle. However, please make a note of the stay in your herd book.

During the registration process, we will ask you for a variety of data, which will complete the case history and give us a better overview of the case. The more detailed information you provide, the better we can process your case.

Important information for owners of bulls

Bulls older than 12 months require a nose ring. The nose ring should have been fitted at least 4 weeks beforehand so that the bulls can be properly led with a lead rod and rope, and pain can be avoided.

If your bull > 12 months does not have a suitable nose ring, we are unfortunately unable to accept him as an outpatient or inpatient for reasons of occupational safety.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict illness and any hospitalisation that may become necessary. Just in case, you should therefore fit your bulls > 12 months with a nose ring as a precaution and in good time, even if they are not led at home.

You have two options regarding transport

Transport by the Clinic for Cattle

A pick-up / delivery is carried out by our new, air-conditioned transport lorry (with hydraulic lifting platform for fixed patients).

Please note:

  • Tours are planned on the morning of the day - a pick-up cannot always be guaranteed.
    • The earlier you register your animal, the better we can plan and the more likely it is that we will be able to collect it on time.
    • The lorry is not in operation at weekends and at night.
    • Calves cannot be transported or can only be transported to a limited extent (high risk of injury for your animal).
  • We try to prioritise emergencies. However, it is always quicker if you bring us emergency cases yourself.

Transport by the owner

  • This is the best option for emergencies, calves and periods outside lorry operating hours.
  • You can bring your animals to us at flexible times (even at night and at weekends).
  • Please make sure that the floor surface is sufficiently padded and stable (risk of slipping and rubbing if the animals are recumbent).
  • If necessary, you can leave your trailer on our campus until you collect your animal.
  • Animals must wear a halter when you bring them to us.
