The Research Training Group (RTG) is incorporated into the Hannover Graduate School for Veterinary Pathobiology, Neuroinfectiology and Translational Medicine (HGNI). Students are apllied in one of its programs. The main curriculum is adopted from the respective program. However, there are several VIPER specific training opportunities offered to the associated 28 students:

 

The five en-block schools offer high standard theoretical lectures as well as practical training courses in equal proportions to achieve an excellent theoretical and technical expertise required in biomedical research:

  • freshman and sophomore class (1st year)
    •   fundamentals of virology, pathogenesis, pathology, immunology, mathematical modelling and bioinformatics
    • basic laboratory techniques
    • ethics in science
  • junior and senior class (2nd year)
    • molecular and functional virology, next-generation-sequencing, development of intervention tools
  • master class (3rd year)
    • commercialization, entrepreneurship and grant application
    • discussion with invited speakers from academia and industry
