An endowment has a long-term effect

If you would like to support the goals of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, you can choose between an endowment and a donation. Both forms are listed in the German tax law under the term donation, but differ in the way the funds are used. What exactly is the difference?

While a donation flows promptly and in full into a project, your sub-foundation increases the foundation's capital. This is invested securely on the financial market and the interest income generated benefits the foundation's purpose. Sub-foundations therefore enable long-term financing, since the assets of a foundation and thus also your sub-foundation are fixed for the long term.
