Zoonoses are diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans. They form a core element within the One Health concept, which is based on the principle that human as well as animal health and an intact environment are indispensably linked to each other. The approach aims to prevent the emergence and transmission of diseases through cooperation between different disciplines such as human and veterinary medicine. Particularly against the background of international trade, animal foodstuffs play a significant role in the transmission and spread of zoonotic pathogens. Questions from this topic area form the scientific focus for the research work of the Foodborne Zoonoses Department.
