Important Information on Hospitalisation of Pigs
In the past years African Swine Fever has been detected in the German wild boar population and has also been traced in farmed pigs. This disease is contagious to all pigs. To ensure the safety of your own pigs and other pigs in the clinic, stricter biosecurtity regulations have been implemented. If you plan to bring pigs to our clinic, please note the following:
- Negative seological results for African Swine Fever, Classical Swine Fever, Aujeszky´s disease and Brucella suis (Diagnosis of Exlusion) are mandatory
- The interval between the blood sample for Diagnosis of Exlusion and the clinic visit must not exceed 7 days
- For disease control reasons, it is not possible to hospitalise pigs from districts where African swine fever has already occurred in farmed pigs or the local wild boar population. If in doubt, please contact your local public veterinary service.
These requirements also apply to companion and miniature pigs.
