Puten in der zwölften Lebenswoche

Animal welfare as a fixed point for sustainable poultry farming.

Our vision is poultry farming in which animal health and behaviour of laying hens, broilers, turkeys, ducks and geese are of paramount importance, while at the same time being sustainable and conserving resources. As a research centre of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover Foundation, we are continuously developing innovative approaches to meet the challenges of modern poultry farming. We envision a future in which animal welfare, environmental protection and economic profitability go hand in hand and society benefits from the advantages of responsible poultry farming.

Our mission

Through research, we develop innovative solutions for poultry farming. Our research objectives focus on the animal and its health - broiler chicken, laying hen, turkey, goose, duck. Our expertise gives us an advantage in improving animal health and behaviour in poultry farming. To this end, we work together with various specialist disciplines within and outside the TiHo and a global network. This enables us to meet the challenges of the future quickly and efficiently and constantly provide science-based solutions for practical poultry farming.
