Our aim is to have healthy animals.

We are a scientific institution at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) Foundation. With the highest standards of research, our employees work on current and future-relevant topics and issues in poultry farming. The research projects are orientated towards the overriding goal of innovative - and above all sustainable - production of poultry meat and eggs. We realise scientific projects in the fields of animal welfare and animal health, animal husbandry and management, animal nutrition, sustainability and environmental protection in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner. In doing so, we take national and global contexts into account. Further information on the tasks of WING can be found under ‘Tasks’.

Knowledge transfer plays a major role at WING. With the help of the knowledge gained, we provide well-founded information and training to stakeholders in the poultry value chain. Furthermore, WING provides political stakeholders with assessments of current debates and future discussions from a scientific perspective. But WING also provides consumers and, in particular, teachers and their pupils with scientific knowledge about the poultry industry or contact with poultry farms.
