The Master's programme MSc "Food Process and Product Engineering" at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) in cooperation with DIL - Deutsches Insitut für Lebensmitteltechnik e. V. in Quakenbrück, is a research-oriented international programme and lasts four semesters. The workload of the total study programme is 120 credit points, i.e. approx. 3600 working hours. The working time is divided into attendance time (lectures, internships, seminars, etc.) and private work (preparation/review time). The MSc programme has a sequential modular structure.
Teaching is mainly carried out at the Artland Campus in Quakenbrück and for certain events also at the TiHo in Hannover. The programme is designed to be suitable for Bachelor graduates from Germany and abroad, the language of instruction is English.
The concept of the curriculum is structured in such a way that the individual focus increases as the study programme progresses. In the first semesters, the basic knowledge from the Bachelor's programme is deepened so that the students, coming from a variety of study programmes, receive a subject overview and are brought to a uniform level of knowledge. Nevertheless, from the first semester onwards, compulsory elective subjects can already be chosen according to one's own interests and expanded in the course of the degree programme. The individual compulsory elective modules comprise a lower number of ECTS credit points than the compulsory modules, as the students should be given the opportunity to individually compile their timetable through these. Due to the lower effort compared to compulsory modules, students have the chance to choose several compulsory elective modules and thus gain a broad insight into the different subjects.
