Application

The degree course Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences is aimed at graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in the subjects Biology, Biochemistry or a comparable scientific study course in natural sciences. It is not aimed at students with a degree in veterinary medicine (state examination) 

Currently 20 places are available in each study year which are awarded via the university admission procedure. All 20 places are awarded in accordance with a ranking based on the BSc class of degree. In the case of same BSc classes of degree a draw decides the ranking.

The study course begins in the Winter Semester. The application dead-line ends on 15 July. The exact requirements can be found in the Admission Regulations to the International Master’s Course Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences.
There is a semester fee of circa 400.00 EUR per semester, including the "Deutschland-Semester ticket".
 

Applications for non-EU citizens

For applicants from non-EU countries and stateless applicants, the application process is handled via Uniassist. A preliminary quota of 40 per cent of all available places is reserved for these applicants. The application period for next year’s winter semester 2027/2028 begins on 15.11 and ends on 31.01.

Applications for EU citizens and German nationals

The application period for the winter semester runs from 01.05. to 15.07. of the relevant year. Applications must be submitted via the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover’s portal.

Application documents

The following documents are required to be uploaded when applying via our portal (mandatory!):

• Curriculum vitae (CV)
• Proof of the highest school-leaving qualification
• Bachelor's degree certificate (if this is not yet available, a certificate of the achievements, the credit points (at least 150) and the average grade
• Transcript of Records
• German A2 - proof of a successfully passed exam
• English B2 - proof of a successfully passed exam
• APS certificate for applicants with a degree from India, Vietnam and China (certificate from the Academic Evaluation Centre APS). For applicants from India holding a B.Eng., B.e. or B.Tech. degree, the APS certificate must include the digital Master Test certificate (dMAT certificate) issued by the Gesellschaft für Akademische Studienvorbereitung und Testentwicklung e.V. (g.a.s.t.). Further information can be found here.
• HEC attestation for applicants with a degree from Pakistan (certification from the Higher Education Commission HEC)
• Applicants with a school or higher education qualification from the following countries do not require a further language certificate: Australia, Canada (all provinces except Quebec and New Brunswick), the USA (High School Diploma), the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
