Research interests

I am a biologist and data scientist with a passion for applying modern statistical and data science techniques in ecology and environmental sciences. Thanks to the advances in automatic data collection, modern ecological studies now have the opportunity to collect large amounts of data  in the form of images, sounds and videos, however the quantity of data collected surpasses many times the capacity of the researchers to process it using traditional analysis approaches.  I’m interested in integrating state of the art computer vision and machine learning techniques into ecological research to harness the power of such datasets and answer relevant questions in applied and pure ecology.
During my career I have worked mainly with  aquatic invertebrates, but I'm happy to contribute and apply my knowledge in different systems and fields.

Experience
