StuPa stands for ‘student parliament’. As the StuPa is the highest decision-making body of the student body, it is also referred to as the ‘student self-governing body’.
At the end of each winter semester, five representatives and four or more deputies are elected from each year group, who then serve on the StuPa for at least one year.
Here is a summary of our tasks:
- Election and dismissal of AStA members: the StuPa can thus control the AStA, but of course works together with it.
- Approval of the rules of procedure of the other student bodies.
- Organisation of a stand at the summer festival – the proceeds are then donated to charity.
- Participating in the general assembly of students
- As well as constantly current topics, e.g. tuition fees or Germany semester ticket
As you can see, you can achieve quite a lot with only about three meetings per semester. So if you feel like getting involved, this is a good opportunity and you will quickly make contact with people from other semesters.
Some of you are probably familiar with the African proverb that says, ‘If lots of little people in lots of little places do lots of little things, they can change the face of the world!’
With this in mind, we invite everyone to attend one of our public meetings. Just send us a quick email to find out the date. Come and see us if you are interested in what we do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to talk to us in person or send us an email.
We look forward to seeing you,
Your StuPa Executive Committee
