Research on wild animals plays an important role at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) Foundation in the three main areas of biodiversity, infectious diseases and food quality. In the Institute for Terrestrial and Aquatic Wildlife Research (ITAW), veterinarians, biologists and other natural scientists work together on diverse topics at two locations (Büsum, Hanover), because only interdisciplinary cooperation makes it possible to meet the great challenges of wildlife research. The institute is headed by Prof. Prof. h. c. Dr. Ursula Siebert.

from North/South/East
Coming from the A23 or the B5, take the Heide-West exit in the direction of Büsum/Wesselburen/Heide onto the B203. After about 14 kilometers, take the second exit at the traffic circle onto Heider Straße. Follow the course of the road on Hafentörn. Turn right onto Dr.-Martin-Bahr-Straße. Take the first left onto Werftstraße. The Institute for Terrestrial and Aquatic Wildlife Research is located directly at the harbor.

Arrival by public transport
From the main station, take subway line 1 (direction Laatzen/Sarstedt), 2 (direction Rethen) or 8 (direction Messe/Nord) two stops to Aegidientorplatz. Change at Aegidientorplatz and take one of the following lines two stops to Braunschweiger Platz: 4 (direction Roderbruch), 5 (direction Anderten), 6 (direction Messe/Ost) or 11 (direction Zoo). The entrance to the Campus Bischofsholer Damm 15 site is located at Braunschweiger Platz.

From the A2 at the "Hannover-Buchholz" interchange or the A7 at the "Hannover Kirchhorst" interchange, take the A37/B3 (Messeschnellweg) in the direction of "Messe". On the Messeschnellweg, take the Bult exit. Turn right onto Bischofsholer Damm and follow the road until you reach Freundallee. Turn right there and shortly afterwards turn left into Willestraße. At the end of the street turn right into Schwesternhausstraße. Here you will find the access road to the premises of the Foundation of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover on the left side.

From the A7, take the A37/B6 (Messeschnellweg) at the "Hannover-Süd" interchange. From the Messeschnellweg in the direction of Celle / Hannover Zentrum (B3/A37), turn left at the Bult exit onto Bischofsholer Damm and follow the road until you reach Freundallee. Turn right there and shortly afterwards turn left into Willestraße. At the end of the street turn right into Schwesternhausstraße.
