Project: Parasite communities in endangered Malagasy lemurs (Avahi occidentalis and Lepilemur edwardsi): the effect of sleeping sites, sex and season.


Goal: Survey of ectoparasites, intestinal and blood parasites of two lemur species around the station of Ampijoroa, North-western Madagascar. Documentation of different parasite types, species prevalence, richness and intensity of the arthropod fauna and helminth and protozoan intestinal fauna (all together called parasite load) of both species of lemurs differing in their sleeping site ecology and comparison of the two sexes and the two seasons.
