PhD

I have graduated in Biotechnology (Coimbra, Portugal) and I am master in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution (Porto, Portugal). In 2020, I completed my PhD studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany), where I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher. My research focuses on the application of molecular and genomic tools to investigate evolutionary patterns in Madagascar using the mouse lemur as study model. Specifically, I am interested at (i) understand how the past Quaternary climatic changes shaped the demographic dynamics of mouse lemurs species adapted to different environmental conditions (evergreen humid forest vs. lowland habitats); and (ii) investigate whether hybridization occurs within the speciose genus Microcebus and its impact on the mouse lemur biogeography.

Grants Awarded

(2019) Maria Sibylla Merian Award in the category “First Runner-up Poster” at Joint BES/GTÖ Unifying Tropical Ecology meeting 2019 in Edinburgh (Scotland).

(2016) Robert Glaser Travel Grant, awarded by the German Gesellschaft für Primatologie, with the research project “Modelling Guinea baboon gene flow in the entire distribution range to improve local conservation management”.

(2013) Optimus Alive Research fellow!2013 in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution.
