An outstanding doctoral dissertation with clinical- or application-oriented topic and relation to farmed animals should be awarded by the prize granted by the professional association of the Corps Hannoverania, Hannover.
The award is named after Professor Dr. med. vet. Dr. h.c. mult. Wilhelm Schulze who founded the clinic for small ruminants and forensic medicine and the ambulatory clinic at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in 1958. He taught there until 1984 and scientifically applied himself with great commitment to swine. With his intensive clinical research, he brought the clinic worldwide recognition in a few years. Beside his scientific activities, he was also particularly involved in university and professional politics, thus, among other things, he directed his skills three times to the position of rector of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. As enthusiastic university lecturer, he also advocated for the interests of the students in a very special way.
