Registration for borrowing media in the library

Please fill in and sign the registration form  and bring it to us in person (please do not send it by e-mail, for data protection reasons). In addition, we require a valid identity card or, alternatively, your passport in combination with a registration confirmation from the registration office.

For TiHo members, the library card is integrated into the TiHo Card. The registration is free of charge for you. Before borrowing or ordering for the first time, you must register your TiHo-Card at the frontdesk. After you have agreed to the library's usage regulations and the use of your data in accordance with DSGVO, you can access all of the library's holdings.

 

Users of other HOBSY libraries

If you have already registered at another HOBSY library in Hannover, you can also register for the TiHo library free of charge. After you have agreed to the library's user regulations and the use of your data according to DSGVO, you can also borrow our holdings.

A fee of EUR 5.00 is to be paid for the issue of a user card. After you have agreed to the library's user regulations and the use of your data according to DSGVO, you can also borrow our holdings.

With your personal library account you can

  • order literature for loan,
  • renew it yourself,
  • make reservations and
  • check your loan periods.

To log in, please enter the 10-digit number on your library card above or below the barcode. Your first password is your date of birth in 6-digit form and without dots (DDMMYY).

 

Borrowing

General rules for borrowing

The loan period is usually 28 days. You can extend the loan period yourself via the library account. However, you can only extend the loan period if:

  • there are no reservations for the items you have borrowed
  • the maximum number of loan extensions allowed has not yet been reached
  • your fee account has not yet reached the maximum amount set by the library, or
  • you are not blocked from borrowing for special reasons.

How can I order books and other media?

If the desired literature is in our library magazine, it can be ordered via the libraty catalouge. If the desired literature is in our library magazine, it can be ordered via the libraty account. You can pick up the ordered items at the frontdesk. It takes about 60 minutes within the opening hours. At the front desk you can also get media that you have reserved.

 

"reserved "?

Reserve means that a book you have borrowed is being reserved for loan.

  • Is your borrowed item "reserved"?
    Unfortunately, it can no longer be renewed, so please return it within the loan period.
  • You would like to "reserve" a borrowed item?
    Please select the desired book in the library catalogue. If the book has been returned to us, you will receive an e-mail notification and the book will be available for you to pick up for one week.

Reminders

How much are the reminder fees?

Reminders are sent for media that have not been returned on time or for which the loan period has not been extended.
Reminder fee:

1st reminder: 2,00€ per borrowed item

2nd reminder 5,00€ per item, plus 2,00€ for the 1st reminder, in total 7,00€.

3rd reminder 10,00€ per item, plus 7,00€ for the 1st and 2nd reminder, in total 17,00€.

How will I be informed about my reminders?

Please check your library account regularly to see if you need to renew or return your loans. You are welcome to leave your e-mail address with us so that we can inform you about your borrowings. However, this is only an additional service of the library and does not protect you from paying overdue fines in case of late return.

What can be ordered?

  • Articles from our holdings that are not available electronically can be ordered from: biblio(at)tiho-hannover.de
  • For copyright reasons, you may only use the reproductions we provide for your own academic use and may not distribute them as printed or electronic copies, either for a fee or free of charge.
  • Please use the "Template for interlibrary loan orders by e-mail (for members of the university)".

Delivery time and costs

Regular delivery (as a copy):

Delivery usually takes place within three working days and is charged at EUR 5.00 per item. However, this also applies if the article is already available electronically.

It can be paid either via the library's user account or quarterly on the institute's or clinic's invoice.

Order literature from other libraries

If the desired literature is not available in the TiHo library, you can obtain it from another library (interlibrary loan) or have it delivered to your home (Subito).

 

Interlibrary loan (order media to the TiHo library)

What is interlibrary loan?

Interlibrary loan is a service offered to you by the TiHo library to obtain literature for you that is not available in this library (costs 1.50 € per item). For this you need a registered library card. Ordered items (books, CDs, DVDs, journal volumes, copies of articles, etc.) are delivered to the TiHo library and can be collected from the front desk. You will be notified of the arrival of the delivery via e-mail. Copies can also be delivered internally by TiHo in-house mail or e-mail.

You can find your personal interlibrary loan account in the  Gemeinsamen Verbundkatalog (GVK).

What is subito?

Subito is a delivery service of the German libraries that is fee-based and offers you the possibility to order literature independently from a Subito library and have it delivered to a private address. You can order articles from journals. You can borrow books or order an extract as a copy.
