Open Access publishing fund

Application form

The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports publishing in Gold Open Access journals with a funding programme.

Prerequisites for Funding

• You are a researcher at University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover as well as the corresponding author of the article, who is responsible for the payment of the publication fee.
•  The article must have been accepted for publication in a genuine Open Access journal (Gold OA journal) and has a documented and discipline-specific review process (e. g. peer review) to ensure the quality of the published article.
• The journal should therefore be listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) or another certified database (e.g. PubMed). Please check here and there whether the publisher is suitable for publication.
• The publication fee per article does not exceed 2,000 € (including VAT). Partial funding (e.g. funding just of the net amount) if the fee is higher than 2,000 € is not possible.
• The Publishing Fund is intended for publications for which funds have not yet been made available or raised elsewhere. Authors therefore confirm when applying for funding that no third-party funds are available to cover the publication fee.
• Every funded publication should contain a reference to the financial support provided by the fund: This publication was supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation within the funding programme Open Access Publishing.

Procedure

1. Before submitting a paper to an open access publisher, please check whether the eligibility requirements for the TiHo publication fund are met.
2. Fill out an application form. This application form must be send to the library before we receive the publisher's invoice from you (invoice date issued).

3. Please send the publisher's invoice to the library (Bibliothek (OE 07): Open Access). An account assignment stamp should already be stamped on the invoice and the box „sachlich u. rechnerisch richtig“ signed (currently also possible as a scan).

4. Please include a reference to the DFG's publishing fund in your article: This publication was supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation within the funding programme Open Access Publishing.
5. The library will check the invoice against your submitted funding application and later forward it to the TiHo's Department of Finance. Finally, we will inform you about the final decision on covering your publication costs.
