Timo Henneck

Timo Henneck studied biology at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and achieved his Bachelor degree in 2016. In the same year he came to Hannover and started the Master program “Animal Biology and Biomedical Sciences” at the University for Veterinary Medicine Hannover. Timo wrote his master thesis “Cellular mechanisms leading to LL-37 mediated formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)” in the group of Prof. Maren von Köckritz-Blickwede and got his master degree in 2018.

Since August 2018 Timo supports the group of Prof. von Köckritz-Blickwede as PhD student in the PhD-program “Animal and Zoonotic Infections” of the HGNI. Timo investigates the mechanism of NET-formation of human neutrophils under hypoxia, infected with Staphylococcus aureus. Associated with the R2N “Replace and Reduce based in Lower Saxony” he also aims for establishing physiological relevant oxygen levels in in vitro infection experiments, to reduce the amount of animal testing by better in vitro methods in the long term.
