Dalanda Wanes

Dalanda Wanes studied live sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of Bizerte, Carthage University and graduated with Fundamental License in Live Sciences in 2012. She received then in December 2014 her Master-degree in Biological Sciences with a thesis entitled “Comparative immunotoxicity of two forms of titanium dioxide (TiO2): nanoparticles and fine particles in mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis” at the Laboratory of Immunology, Microbiology and Environnemantal Carcinogenesis at the Faculty of Sciences of Bizerte.

Since January 2016, Dalanda is a PhD student in the group of "Functional Physiology and Valorization of Bioresources" at the Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Béja, University of Jendouba under the direction of Prof. Sebai Hichem and in collaboration with the group of "Biochemistry and pathobiochemistry of membrane and protein transport", University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover under the direction of Prof. Naim. Her project is entitled "Protective effect of Rosa canina L. on dextran sodium sulfate the (DSS)- induced gastrointestinal inflammation: in-vivo and in-vitro model".

Gastrointestinal inflammation is a complex biological response to injury as a result of different stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. In his work, Dalanda will study the possible therapeutic effect of Rosa canina L.on DSS-induced ulcerative colitis in mice as the in-vivo model. Moreover, she will investigate in-vitro if the disturbance caused by DSS on the trafficking and enzyme activity of intestinal disaccharidases like sucrase-isomaltase can be restored by Rosa canina L.
