Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is a form of inflammatory bowel disease that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores, in the colon. The main symptom is usually a diarrhea mixed with blood of gradual onset. Ulcerative colitis is, however, a systemic disease that affects many parts of the body outside the intestine.

Our group investigates the membrane transport in ulcerative colitis by analyzing the proteome and lipidome of colitis mice. Proteins of interest are identified by 2D electrophoresis and mass spectrometry.
